Nestled in the heart of nature, Gelemiç is a historic village of Bursa city with deep roots. Located 72 km from Bursa city center and 10 km from Keles district, this village sits at an altitude of 780 meters. Its proximity to the stunning Kayalıdere (Kile) Canyon, traversed by the Kocasu River, and the mysterious Gavurini (Kile) cave makes it a nature lover’s paradise.

Founded in the 1400s by the Ottomans, Gelemiç is one of the earliest Turkish settlements. According to a 1530 tax registry, it was under the jurisdiction of Orhaneli. Back then, a mere 12 households called this village home. Over the centuries, its population fluctuated, reaching 570 in 1927, 587 in 1990, and 532 in 1997.

A traditional Yörük village, Gelemiç is renowned for preserving its customs and traditions. Its inhabitants trace their ancestry back to the Kayı tribe, one of the founding tribes of the Ottoman Empire. The village’s 5 km north yayla (mountain pasture) is a popular spot for Hıdırellez celebrations and picnics.

Accessible via a 46 km road from İnegöl through Boğazova, Gelemiç offers a unique blend of history, nature, and culture.
